Vugar Guliyev
Artist Statement
The most precious thing in a person's life, and, as they say, the only thing he will take with him to another world, are memories. Or rather, our perception of memories, that Vugar Guliyev explores in his works.
The main thing in the works of this artist is the idea. His technique of multi-layering and peculiar dots with a special play of colors is only a means of its expression, it serves the creator's thoughts.
Guliyev says that time changes our perception of the world, and our attitude to various events that have remained in the past changes. We are not shaped by events but by our perception of events that have already become memories. And time, existing in our consciousness and influencing our perceptions, can be perceived as a matrix.
The artist, who finds harmony in chaos, creates it in his paintings. Chaos manifests itself in the absence of consistency, Vugar is not very sympathetic to consistency. Using his talent as a seer, the artist manages to find harmony in contradictory colors, shapes, and images.
Each layer imposed by the artist has its algorithm. This algorithm is very fragile, which is manifested in every part of the work. Carefully verified dots create an effect of ephemerality. However, in addition to dots, there are also static forms that remind us that not everything in the world is fleeting. The artist likes to translate perception into vibrations. He calls the dots noise, which can both create and destroy form. This noise has its lyricism, its interconnectedness. This vibration, created by the artist's technique, demonstrates that under the influence of time, as we grow older, memories can change. At each stage of our life, our perception of the world changes because consciousness changes. And the instability of everything in time creates a bridge between vibrations and perceptions. The artist's goal is to show the organic nature of this chaos.
